The visit of certain members of Estonian Riigikogu to China's Taiwan region disregarding the dissuasion of the Chinese side, seriously violates the one-China principle and the Estonian commitments in the Joint Communique of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Estonia. We firmly oppose it.

Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The one-China principle is a recognized basic norm of international relations and universal consensus of the international community. It is also the political basis of China-Estonia relations. Not to establish formal, official relations of any forms with Taiwan is the solemn commitment undertaken by Estonia. We urge relevant Estonian parliamentarians to abide by the one-China principle, and refrain from any action that could violate China’s core interests and China-Estonia relations.
