On September 28, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Estonia held a reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the arrival of H.E. Ambassador Guo Xiaomei inTallinn, the capital of Estonia.About 300 guests from all walks of life attended the event, including people from the Estonian government, Riigikogu,enterprises, diplomatic corps andrepresentatives of Chinese community in Estonia.

In her address, Ambassador Guo said that over the past 74 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people, through arduous exploration, have blazed a path suitable for China’s national conditions, that is the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The Chinese people created the two miracles of fast economic growth and long-term social stability, and launched the great practice of Chinese modernization. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. China has won the largest battle against poverty in human history, finished building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and embarked on a new journey to builda modern socialist country in all respects.

Ambassador Guo pointed out that this year is the first year for China to fully implement the guiding principles set forth by the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Against the backdrop of the difficult recovery of the world economy, China’s economy continues to recover and is improving steadily. China remains the engine and stabilizer of the world economy. At present, China is upholding advancement of high-quality development as a main theme, fully implementing the new philosophy of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development, and accelerating the fosteringof a new pattern of development that is focused on the domestic economy and features positive interplay between domestic and international economic flows. China is committed to high-standard opening-up, which will provide new cooperation opportunities for all countries.

Ambassador Guo stressed that this year also marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind. China released a white paper titled A Global Community of Shared Future: China's Proposals and Actions, which provided an in-depth explanation of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind. The vision has nothing to do with self-interest and protectionism. It confronts the hegemonic thinking of certain countries that seek supremacy, creates the greatest synergy among all nations for building a better world, and serves the common interests of humanity. Striving to build a community with shared future for mankind has become the overall goal of China’s diplomacy. 

Ambassador Guo highlighted that China insists on developing friendly cooperation with all countries including Estonia on the basis of the five principles of peaceful coexistence. China was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Estonia. Our two countries enjoy traditional friendship with no historical burden and fundamental conflicts of interests. Since the establishment of diplomatic relation between China and Estonia 32 years ago, the bilateral relations have generally remained stable, which has proved that as long as we understand and respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, relations between the two countries can develop healthily. We are with high hopes and in confidence that the good cooperation between China and Estonia will continue to develop in the years to come.

At the reception, Ambassador Guo and the guests enjoyed songs and dances performed by Chinese students studying in Estonia and Chinese music played by the Estonian musicians with traditional Chinese musical instruments.

The guests present celebrated the birthday of the People’s Republic of China together in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
