On the afternoon of October 18, 2026 local time, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang held talks in Dushanbe with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda.

Li Qiang noted that the Chinese and Tajik peoples have always had friendship with each other. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Emomali Rahmon, China-Tajikistan relations have maintained high-level development, and cooperation in various fields has made deeper and more substantive progress. Next year will mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan. China is ready to work with Tajikistan to deepen strategic mutual trust, firmly support each other, and take the comprehensive cooperation between China and Tajikistan to new heights with more tangible outcomes, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is ready to deeply align development strategies with Tajikistan, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen cooperation in trade and investment, green minerals, connectivity, clean energy, artificial intelligence and other fields, so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. China is ready to import more quality products from Tajikistan and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Tajikistan. It is hoped that Tajikistan will continue to provide a sound business environment for enterprises. The two sides should expand exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, health, sports and at sub-national levels, enhance the sense of gains of the two peoples, and continue to deepen cooperation in law enforcement and security to create a stable and peaceful environment for bilateral people-to-people exchanges. The current international situation continues to undergo complex changes. China and Tajikistan, both important members of the Global South, should foster closer solidarity and coordination to safeguard the common interests of the two countries and uphold international fairness and justice. The two sides should further strengthen communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the U.N., the SCO, the China-Central Asia mechanism, and the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, and work for the building of a more just and equitable global governance system.

Kokhir Rasulzoda said that under the joint guidance of the two heads of state, Tajikistan-China relations are currently at the best level in history. In May this year, President Emomali Rahmon paid a successful visit to China, bringing bilateral relations into a new stage of development. China is the most important trade and investment partner of Tajikistan, and Tajikistan appreciates China’s long-standing strong support for Tajikistan’s economic development over the years. Tajikistan is actively committed to promoting all-round cooperation with China. It is ready to further leverage the role of the intergovernmental commission on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, investment, agriculture, transportation and logistics, energy and minerals, connectivity, and other fields. Tajikistan also stands ready to expand cooperation in emerging fields such as the green economy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen communication and coordination in multilateral platforms such as the SCO and the China-Central Asia mechanism, so as to promote continuous new achievements in Tajikistan-China relations.

After the talks, the two sides jointly witnessed the signing of multiple documents in infrastructure construction, education, anti-corruption, standardization cooperation, and other fields.

On the afternoon of the same day, Li Qiang laid a wreath at the National Reconciliation and Revival Monument of Tajikistan.

Wu Zhenglong participated in the aforementioned activities.
