Remarks by Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in Estonia on the China-related Statement Made by Certain Members of Riigikogu on July. 6

The so-called statement severely distorts the facts, blatantly supports the “Tibetan independence” forces, infringes upon China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. The Embassy strongly condemns and firmly opposes it.

China is a multi-ethnic country where various ethnic groups are all equal and united in a harmonious relationship of mutual assistance. Strengthening the rule of law is conducive to better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic groups and enhancing ethnic unity. The Chinese government attaches high importance to preserving ethnic minority cultures, and lawfully safeguards the right of all ethnic groups to use and develop their own spoken and written languages. Our practices and achievements in this area have been widely recognized by the international community.

Relevant members of Riigikogu, on the one hand, push for policies that discriminate against minority groups in their own country, while on the other hand, are keen to point fingers at China on Xizang-related issues, showing their out -and-out hypocrisy and double standards. Its real purpose is nothing more than grandstanding and seeking attention.

Xizang is an integral part of China’s territory. The Embassy urges the relevant members of Riigikogu such as Juku-Kalle Raid to respect facts, come back to reason, stop indulging in wishful thinking and spreading lies. China will firmly safeguard its national sovereignty and will not tolerate any malicious external interference.
