On September 26, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Estonia held a reception to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. More than 200 guests from the Estonian government, Riigikogu, enterprises, diplomatic corps and representatives of Chinese community in Estonia attended the event.

In her address, Ambassador Guo Xiaomei reviewed the remarkable achievements China made in the past 76 years, particularly during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. She noted that China’s economy has maintained steady growth, contributing about 30 percent annually to global economic growth. Over the past five-year period, China’s economic expansion is expected to exceed 5 trillion U.S. dollars, surpassing the total output of the world’s third-largest economy.

Ambassador Guo highlighted the innovation-driven strategy of China, stressing its leading role in areas such as 5G, artificial intelligence, and new energy. She also emphasized China’s green transition, with non-fossil fuels accounting for nearly 20 percent of its energy consumption, and the largest wind and photovoltaic installed capacities in the world. She said China also upholds the vision of openness, and has become one of the top three trading partners of 157 countries and regions worldwide.

Ambassador Guo underlined the core principles of the Global Governance Initiative China proposes, such as to adhere to sovereign equality, abide by international law, practice multilateralism, advocate the people-centered approach, and focus on taking real results, she noted that China stands ready to work with all countries to implement the Initiative and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity.

Ambassador Guo noted that although China and Estonia are geographically distant, people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries are growing closer, with mutual understanding deepening. She expressed the hope that both sides would continue to work together to generate more sparks in cultural exchanges.

Guests extended their congratulations on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and enjoyed at performances. They commended China’s development achievements and its positive contributions to global governance, and expressed expectations for further advancement of China-Estonia relations.
