Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas of Estonia

On the morning of November 24, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Dongshan Hotel of Suzhou City with Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas of Estonia, who was in China to attend the 4th Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC).

Li Keqiang expressed that Estonia is a major cooperative partner of China in the Baltic Sea region. China is willing to, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Estonia in politics, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields so as to push forward the healthy and stable development of China-Estonia relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China-Estonia practical cooperation has a sound foundation and huge potentials. It is hoped that the Estonian side can give play to its transportation and location advantages to actively participate in the construction of China-Europe freight-train network so as to promote the connectivity and logistic convenience between China and Europe. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Estonian side, carry out cooperation in infrastructure construction in the Baltic Sea region including railways and ports, boost mutual learning, and grasp internet resources and its aggregation potential to facilitate mass entrepreneurship and mass innovation, enhance the development stamina of bilateral economic and trade relations and forge new growth points.

Taavi Rõivas noted that Estonia and China enjoy close relations with economic and trade cooperation being gradually advanced. It is rather important for Estonia to develop its relations with China. Estonia welcomes Chinese investment, and will play its geographical advantage to serve as a crucial hub for Europe-China connectivity and strengthen cooperation in IT, agriculture and animal husbandry, tourism and other areas between the two sides.
