The 7th Chinese New Year Celebration successfully held in Estonia

Co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Government and Tallinn City Government, the seventh Chinese New Year Celebration was successfully held at Tondiraba Ice Ring in Tallinn, Estonia on 5 February. Nearly ten thousand people joined the event, celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year together.

   

Speaking in her opening remarks, Ms. Lin Hang, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy, extended her warm seasonal greetings to the Estonian people. She said that China has a tradition of celebrating the Spring Festival, which is the most important holiday in China, for thousands of years. She was glad that the Chinese New Year Celebration, which had been successfully held for six years, became part of life for Estonian people in the beginning of every year. She said that, as it is the 25th anniversary for China-Estonia diplomatic relations in 2016, the event would kick start a series celebration throughout the year in both countries. She was satisfied with China-Estonia relations and expressed optimism for bringing the bilateral relation to a new level this year with joint effort of both governments and peoples.

   

Mr. Edgar Savissar, the initiator of bringing Chinese New Year Celebration to Tallinn warmly welcomed the delegation from Beijing. He commended the friendly relations between Estonian and China as well as mutually beneficial cooperation between Tallinn and Beijing. He also extended seasonal greetings to all the Chinese and Estonian people.

   

During the performance, the Chinese artists presented traditional and contemporary Chinese music, dancing and martial arts.
