Beijing Education Fair held in Estonia

On 18 May 2017, Beijing Education Fair was held in Tallinn, Estonia by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in association with Beijing International Education Exchange. 14 Chinese universities with campus in Beijing and 2 middle schools from Beijing participated in the event. Chinese Ambassador to Estonia Mr. Qu Zhe, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Archimedes Foundation Mr. Rait Toompere, Head of Tallinn Education Department Mr. Andres Pajula and officials from Estonian Ministry of Education and Research attended the opening ceremony.

   

Ambassador Qu Zhe gave a brief overview of the Chinese higher education development in the past 60 years as well as the national plan for building world-class universities in the next decades. "The Coordinate Development of World-class Universities and First-class Disciplines Construction Overall Plan released by the State Council in 2015 sets out a broad policy for China to develop a number of world-class universities and disciplines by 2020, to have some universities and disciplines among the best in the world by 2030 and to have China's overall higher education system considered among the world's best by 2050", said the Ambassador. He was satisfied with the fruitful cooperation between China and Estonia in education and hoped the education fair will help Estonian students who have interest in studying in China know more about Chinese higher education and universities.

   

Mr. Huang Kan, Deputy Director-General of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, introduced the development of higher education in Beijing and the benefits that international students will get from studying in Beijing.

Both Mr. Rait Toompere, Chairman of Foundation Archimedes and Mr. Andres Pajula, Head of Tallinn Education Department, expressed their support for Beijing Municipal Education Commission to organize the education fair in Tallinn. They also hoped that this event will help Estonian students have better knowledge on Chinese education and study in top universities in China.
