China-Estonia Friendship Group of National People's Congress of PRC visited Estonia

At the invitation of the Estonia-China Parliamentary Group of the Riigikogu, the chairman of the China-Estonia Friendship Group of the National People's Congress of PRC Mr. Xu Shaoshi visited Estonia from 19th to 21st September, 2019.

At the meetings with the Second Vice-President Mr. Siim Kallas, the Chairman of the foreign affairs committee Mr. Enn Eesmaa and members of the Estonia-China Parliamentary Group, Mr. Xu Shaoshi spoke highly of the development of China-Estonia relations in recent years and stressed that Estonia was an important partner for China in the Baltic and Central and Eastern European regions. “China attaches great importance to China-Estonia relations and I would like to thank Riigikogu for its great work to promote the development of our bilateral relations. The China-Estonia Friendship Group of the National People's Congress is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Riigikogu and promote China-Estonia relationship to move forward by playing the unique role of the legislative body.” Mr. Xu said.

The Estonian MPs emphasized the importance of Estonia-China relations and the broad consensus on adhering to multilateralism and free trade between the two countries. They suggested that the two legislative bodies should continue to promote exchanges in the future. The delegation and the Estonian MPs also exchanged views on the Belt and Road Initiative, China-EU relations, the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, etc.

Chinese Ambassador to Estonia Mr. Li Chao accompanied the delegation to attend all the above activities.
