Exhibition of Chinese Culture opens in the Estonian Sports Museum in Tartu on April 1, 2003

On April 1, 2003, the Exhibition of Chinese Culture opens in the Estonian Sports Museum in Tartu. Around 120 guests from the Estonian Ministry of Culture, Tartu City Government, Tartu University, museums and some other units took part in the opening ceremony. H. E. Mrs. Cong Jun, Ambassador of China to Estonia, H. E. Mr. Margus Allikmaa, Minister of Culture of Estonia, Mr. Andrus Ansip, Mayor of Tartu, and Mr. Mati Tolmoff, Director of the Estonian Sports Museum attended the opening ceremony and made speeches separately, highlighting the importance of the Exhibition of being a good example of good cultural exchange between China and Estonia and being a big event in the life of Tartu city. All the guests present at the opening ceremony were greatly impressed by the splendor of the Chinese culture.

The Exhibition of Chinese Culture is organized by the Embassy of China in Estonia with the aim of introducing the splendid Chinese culture to the friendly Estonian people and promoting better mutual understanding between the Chinese and Estonian people. It gets good cooperation from the Estonian Ministry of Culture and the Estonian Sports Museum. The Exhibition contains three main parts, namely the Chinese porcelain exhibition, posters of 100 major Chinese archaeological discoveries and photos of Chinese athletes and Beijing as it is now preparing to host the 2008 Olympics.

The Exhibition of Chinese Culture will open from 11:00 --18:00 o’clock every day from 2 to 27 April, 2003 in the Estonian Sports Museum at Ruutli 15, Tartu.
