2022 "Happy Chinese New Year" event held in Tallinn

The 13th online "Happy Chinese New Year" event co-hosted by Beijing city government and Tallinn city government was held on February 1, 2022 at the Tallinn Town Hall Square.Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this event was held both online and offline,through whichthe people living in Beijing and Tallinn jointly celebrated the New Year, welcomed the Winter Olympics, and fought against the epidemic in a special way.

At 12:00 p.m. ,the wonderful performance played by the Beijing artists was showed on the big screen , and the Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro began to carve the wood Tigerwork. In the scene,at six o'clock in the evening, dragon dances, drumming and fire performances kicked off the official event. At 18:05, Tallinn Mayor H.E.Mr. Mihhail Kõlvart and Chinese Ambassador to Estonia H.E.Mr. Li Chao came on the stage and wished everyone Happy New Year. Mr. Kõlvart said that tigers are powerful animals, and he hopes it could bring blessings to everyone in the new year.Mr. Li Chao introduced the situation of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the meaning of the mascot "Bing Dwen dwen", and sent the best wishes to all the Estonian athletes . The two sides expressed their hopes to strengthen cultural exchanges, boost practical cooperation, and promote a stronger development of bilateral relations, and looked forward to resuming personnel exchanges in various fields between the two countries .

     

After the performance, the embassy distributed gifts such as the mascot dolls "Bing Dwen Dwen" and "Shuey Rhon Rhon " to some audience , which were well loved by the local people.
